New flights to Dominica

Discover Dominica

Whale watching is popular on Dominica
The new route from St. Lucia makes it easier connecting from various long-haul flights from the United Kingdom, Miami, Atlanta, New York and Toronto. LIAT, the regional Caribbean airline, has introduced daily non-stop service between St. Lucia’s Herwanorra Airport (UVF) and Dominica’s Canefield Airport (DCF), located on the western portion of the island just 10 minutes drive from the capital city of Roseau.

Located between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Eastern Caribbean, the independent nation of Dominica is the largest and most mountainous of the Windward Islands, encompassing an area of nearly 290 square miles / 751 km². Of volcanic origins with mountains reaching heights of nearly 5,000 feet / 1500 metres, rainforests that are considered among the last true oceanic rainforests in the world, more than 365 rivers, waterfalls, boiling lakes and pristine coral reefs, Dominica’s natural diversity is truly unique.

The volcanic nature of the island and the lack of sandy beaches have made Dominica a popular scuba diving spot. Within minutes from shore, walls plunge over 500m, pinnacles rise up from the depths and attract schools of fish. Our reefs are thriving, healthy and covered in the Caribbean’s most colourful sponges.

The Dominica Water Sports Association (DWA) organizes an annual diving extravaganza called DIVE FEST, which features attractive dive deals and packages. For more information on diving in Dominica visit www.dominicawatersports.com
