Diving spot murk threatens tourism

Experienced divers say a range of factors could be to blame, from intensive coastal development to natural phenomena.

“Visibility now is not like before, the fish are not like before,” said Issa Maiah, the Jordanian manager of the Ocean Diving Centre, who has been working in the UAE for more than 10 years. “I’m talking about both the quality and quantity. Before we had a lot more diving sites not too far from Abu Dhabi, but now the visibility is very bad.”
