U-Boat Worx to reveal first deep-sea submarine at Monaco Yacht Show
This C-Explorer 2 can accommodate a trained pilot and one passenger. The submersible was designed for a maximum depth of 1,000 metres and comes equipped with modern lithium-ion batteries which allow it to remain submerged for up to 12 hours at a time. Its powerful air-conditioning system, iPod stereo installation and champagne cooler are indicative of the luxurious surroundings from where the underwater world can be observed.
“Of course, submersibles have been around for years and come in all shapes and sizes, but these user-friendly private subs make the still undiscovered underwater world so much more accessible,†comments Bert Houtman, Director of U-Boat Worx.
The Dutch submersibles are not only used for private purposes, but are also ideal for oceanographic research and underwater photography, among other things. The design makes it simple to fit the C-Explorer with a wide range of research equipment, such as a sonars or manipulator arms.
The C-Explorer 2 is part of the C-Explorer line announced in April 2010. This product line was designed to supplement the existing C-Quester submersibles with models that can transport up to 5 passengers to depths of between 100 and 1,000 metres. All C-Explorers are equipped with a fully transparent pressure hull to guarantee optimal visibility.
All U-Boat Worx submersibles are designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with the safety guidelines of internationally recognised certification authorities.
